1” Western Red Cedar boards –Best in Grade & Quality

• 1” Cedar boards are STK (Select Tight Knot) grade.  This is the highest knotty grade available in trim/facia boards. Graded from the rough face.
• Our competitors stock Standard & Better (#2 & Better) grade.  This grade allows loose knots, punky knots, black-ring knots and some knot holes.  15 to 20% of the boards in this grade will probably develop knot holes.
• Our boards are S1S2E (Smooth 1-Side & 2-Edges), for uniform size and thickness.
• Our boards are green (not kiln-dried); however, ours are stored in our auto-stak shed which allows them to dry in a more controlled situation than being outside or in a heated building.  Due to the lower #2 grade and drying conditions of our competitor’s boards, their product ends up with more splitting and knots which become loose and may fall out.
• Our boards are graded after they are milled.  Our competitors’ boards are the product of cants which were graded before they are re-sawn into boards.  All the boards cut from these lower grade cants end up in the Standard & Better grade.  Ours are graded after the cutting from cants.
